    I was rereading the commentary on the information placards that I posted previously https://navlist.net/Port-Chalmers-Time-Ball-Stuart-jun-2023-g54326. It is stated that the ball was dropped at "1.00pm Port Chalmers time or 1hr 37m 23.5s am Greenwich Mean Time". That puts the assumed longitude of Port Chalmers in 1867 at 170°39'08"E. From Google Earth the current position of the time ball is 170°37'36"E having been moved 75m from its original location, say 170°37'39"E. Presumably the error of around 1.5NM was pretty much standard for the time,
