Greg,
Great photo! In a previous thread http://fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx/LADEE-Moon-Probe-Puzzle-Stuart-sep-2013-g25123 the launch of the lunar mission LADEE from Wallops Island was successfully used to find the observer's position to within 5NM. For that launch there was quite a bit more information available than for the Falcon 9. The launch vehicle was a solid fuel rocket which has successive boost phases and coast phases between stages. The time and position of above the Earth of Stage 3 ignition was known and could be measured against the background stars.
Regards,
Robin
