Just over a week ago, I presented a paper on the Bygrave and HR series at an international meeting of slide rule collectors. Because the Bygrave has been discussed several times in this newsgroup as well, I thought it would be useful to make it available to all group members here as well. The pdf can be found at http://fer3.com/arc/img/PositionLineSlideRules.pdf Please note that I have tried to keep the discussion of celestial navigation to the minimum necessary to understand the operation of the Bygrave, so it is from a navigation standpoint highly incomplete and possibly incorrect, but please bear in my mind that the target audience was slide rule collectors, NOT navigation enthusiasts. I do hope many of you will find this paper interesting: if you have any additional information, such as serial numbers of items in your possession, please send them to me off list to be included in future versions of this paper.
