One can shoot the sun in the AM and PM, say 4 hours between shots, using either a sea horizon, if one is available, or with an artificial horizon, and obtain a"fix". Actually this process would amount to advancing an LOP, however given that one is standing in essentially the same location, two LOP's obtained,when plotted, would constitute a "fix".

Using a suitable artificial horizon, one could shoot the moon, two shots being say 4 hours apart, the shooter standing in essentially the same location. Would one then obtain a valid "fix" or might the moon's movement, it moves at a rapid, irregular rate, mess things up.

Any information appreciated.
