As I had said before, if the map is small area then any projection will be OK. A UPS we all use to plot our cel-nav LOPs is an example of a small area chart. Usually 2 degrees by 2 degrees - 120 NM high and maby 100 MN wide. Not Mercator or Lambert or anything but a good approximation. At the small range you say your radar is used at then plot a straight line without fear. Just rember, a radar bearing, a RDF, or even a visual sight is a great circle.
When we flew across oceans we could get a radar fix at 250+ NM and radio bearings much longer. A Mercator chart was not a good choice.
