I have an Astra 111B, which seems like a nice, good quality instrument. Of course, that is the only metal frame sextant I have any experience with.
As for the Practice Bubble Horizon you mentioned, I bought one of those too. The thing seems tricky to use, though perhaps the problem lies in/with the operator, yours truly.
The PBH is not illuminated, so it's useable only in daylight, fair enough. One thing I could not figure out is the BC, Bubble Correction Factor, again perhaps my fault.
Otherwise, I suppose that the thing works, within it's inherent limits, so it might be worth a try. I do believe that you will be satisfied with the 111B, if you buy one.
