Doesn't that require an ability to confidently locate and 'lock on' to the chosen stars in a brightening and perhaps cloudy sky, with the constellations and their various pointers rapidly disappearing? Setting up the star finder isn't that onerous, especially when having regard for your second point, re LHA Aries.
