    I have one on a Davis 25 and find it useful.  Mostly when I see it, it
    reminds me to rock the sextant.  When things are bouncing about I have
    actually used it as intended to level the sextant without swinging it.
    
    Also helpful is a large rubber eyecup I slipped over the eyepiece.  It lets
    me put the sextant up against my eye without fear of poking my eye out.  That
    helps stabilize the sextant and keeps the little eyepiece centered in front
    of my eye.  I bought it years ago from Edmund Scientific.  I think it is
    #Q34-764 $7.95 in their catalogue, but they have several sizes.
    www.scientificsonline.com.  Unfortunately the sextant case can not be closed
    with it on the instrument and it must be installed and removed with each use.
