Brilliantly dry humor, Geoffrey.
Meanwhile, I have just checked multiple time-keeping devices in my home. Two android smartphones, an iPad, my Windows laptop, my Mac, and a laptop running Ubuntu all show times of 12:57 EST. The clocks on appliances in my kitchen both read 12:57. But I don't trust all this new-fangled technology, and I give greater weight to the two analog clocks which I maintain in top working order. One of them reads 13:02 and the other shows 15:55. I average the mean of all the modern devices with the two analog clocks (averaging 12:57, 13:02, 15:55) and conclude that the best estimate of the time is 13:58. Just the way the old navigators would have done it with an ensemble of chronometers! ;) And we see clearly, once again, that we cannot depend on modern technology since all of those electronic devices are slow by over one hour.
