Greg and Dave,
I drew the circle arbitrarily small out of convenience. Obviously in that case one could draw it directly. But what if the circle is larger than is convenient to draw, but still small enough to affect the plot? In any case, this was more of a thought experiment for me than anything else. As I said: this is a situation one would likely never encounter in practice.
