But it does contain a phrase which I've seen used a few times on the www, e.g. Wikipedia, - at page 97 (sorry, I started reading it from the last page forwards!) 'These tables were conceived and designed by Commander C. H. Hutchins'. Was this the first use of the phrase before the digital revolution, or did Morse take it from another commentator of the time e.g. Swope? Dave P
