    It is not quite as simple as that.

    If you look at the alignment of the Old Kingdom pyramids, there is a gradual drift of the deviation of the alignment from true North from the Meidum pyramid (2600 BC) which was aligned about 20 MOA to the West, to the pyramid of Neferirkare (2450 BC) which was aligned about 30 MOA East of true North. The Giza pyramids sit around the middle of this distribution and so are the most accurately aligned, with the Great Pyramid (Khufu) only off about 4 MOA to the West.

    Whatever method you come up with for the way the Old Kingdom Egyptians aligned their pyramids, you have to account for this gradual drift from West to East of the alignments over time.

    Equinoxes don't do it.
