Bruce,
Your intercept should be 9.8' toward since Ho is larger than Hc.

Hello:
I have not done one of these problems in a while and my brain is a bit (or more than a bit) rusty. All of my values are close except for Dubhe, and I can't find error. Since I don't have HO 249 volume 2, I solve HC and Cos A equations. Could someone post their specific final sight reduction for Dubhe or check my values below?
I now see the quick beauty of Weems for all latitudes, I usually use HO 249, volume 3 or do hand calculator solution . I recently purchased Weems 4 th edition LOP book. I can mostly make sense out of it, but the wording is so brief that I really can't visualize the trig solutions. Would appreciate someone sending in a reference that I could study. For the 1/5/2014 problem Dubhe:
Time: 12:05:42; AP lat 37* 00N; dec N 61* 40.1; GHA Aries = 286* 26.1' ; SHA= 193* 51.0'; GHA 120* 17.1; AP Long 76* 17; LHA = 44*; HO = 53* 31.2'; HC 53* 21.4' ; int = 9.8 ' A; ZN = 326.5* END
Many thanks.
Bruce
