Re: Question about Davis Mk 25 sextant beam converger

    Greg,
I found my Davis Mk 15 to be somewhat "temperamental". I got to be
fairly decent with it. And I also found myself constantly adjusting the
horizon mirror. Sometimes even with the most delicate treatment, it would
be extremely out of whack (side error). Turned out one of the adjusting
screws and the spring clip were much too loose: defective loose. Took some
removal and adjusting with pliers to set the clip right and stable; I had no
problems after that (other than consistency, ahem...). It was a good
learning sextant. However, it mostly lit a fire under me and made me want
to get a metal sextant. Which I eventually did.
