    I remember one post in particular that you wrote in August of 2004. Indeed it was ignored at the time, but I don't think you should take it as meaning that it was ignored for content. There is an "August" effect on this list. At least one month in (northern hemisphere) summer is extremely quiet on the list, and quite a few posts pass without any comment at all. I imagine list members (most of whom are in the northern hemisphere --no offense to those with opposite seasons) are enjoying the nice weather and taking advantage of every opportunity to get out on the water. That's the August effect.

    Any thoughts? I'll just mention that I prefer to graph a series of sights around noon to get a better timing of Local Apparent Noon. This is merely a wrinkle in the method of equal altitudes.
