Re: ReedNavigation.com: Spring 2022 online workshops
    From: Frank Reed
    Date: 2022 Apr 5, 17:55 -0700

Early registration ends tomorrow (at 11pm Eastern US time on April 6, which is 03:00 UT on April 7). For established NavList members, use discount code NX8767 to get a $25 discount off each workshop, $35 through tomorrow night. Standard rate is $174 per person, per class; discounted rate is $149. Early registration is $139. You don't need a special code for early registration, but it ends tomorrow night.

First up is "Celestial Navigation in the Age of Sail" beginning on the last day of April, followed a week later by "Lunars: Finding Longitude by Lunar Distances". Then the week after that "Modern Celestial ONE: Sextants & Sun Sights", and rounding out the month of May, "Modern Celestial TWO: Position Fixes & Star Sights".

Every workshop has two sessions. Pick a session that suits your schedule. The Atlantic session runs on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:00am Eastern US time (1400 UT) and is designed to be convenient for attendees in longitudes on either side of the Atlantic. The Pacific session of each workshop runs on the following Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday starting at 6:00pm Eastern US time (2200 UT) and is intended to be more convenient for attendees further west (Pacific Rim and islands), but this can also be convenient for attendees who prefer evenings on the east coast of the US. While both Atlantic and Pacific sessions are live and in some ways unique, they cover the same content with the same total number of workshop hours. You're also welcome to attend both Atlantic and Pacific sessions for any single workshop in the same week.

If you have attended any of my online or on-site workshops in the last three years (since 1 Jan 2019), you can repeat online, as many times as you want, for a small seat fee ($19.95). There's no early discount on this. Follow this link to register for any repeat:
       ReedNavigation.com/Register/?repeat=1.
Be sure to explain your eligibility for a repeat where indicated. No cheating! :)

Finally, while my institutional partners are not quite ready for on-site classes, I am hoping that they will start again this Fall. Online workshops will continue seasonally regardless.

    What is NavList?

NavList is a community devoted to the preservation and practice of celestial navigation and other methods of traditional position-finding. We're a group of navigators, navigation enthusiasts and hobbyists, mathematicians and physicists, and historians interested in all aspects of navigation but primarily those techniques which are non-electronic.

To post a message, if you are already signed up as a NavList member, start a new discussion or reply to any posted message and use your posting code (this is a simple low-security password assigned when you join). You may also join by posting. Your first on-topic messsage automatically makes you a member, and a posting code will be assigned and emailed to you for future posts.

Uniquely, the NavList message boards also permit full interaction entirely by email. You can optionally receive individual posts or daily digests by email, and any member can post messages by email (bypassing the web site) by sending to our posting address which is "NavList@NavList.net". This functionality is similar to a traditional Internet mailing list: post by email, read by email, reply by email. Most members will prefer the web interface here for posting and replying to messages.

NavList is more than an online community... more about that another day.
