It's a European (Bundeswehr) Kollsman. They operate on 3Volts. In the carrying case you get a cute little aluminium torch like grandma used to have, which takes two (or 3) A (or C) batteries. I'll check tomorrow; senior moment. It beats 3xPP3 batteries in series any day. They only last a few minutes with a 28V USAF Kollsman. In the end, I found a 'Chinese' 24V power supply on eBay to power my USAF Kollsman. DaveP
