This is no longer relevant to Zvi, whose bubble sextant already "works like a dream" again. But just for the record, silver solder has a HIGHER melting point than lead-tin. Despite its other advantages for electronic circuits, this makes it trickier to work with, particular in the vicinity of heat sensitive components. It's the very reason why the inexperienced often avoid it. Also, it requires a flux that might contaminate the liquid in the tube. Herbert Prinz
