Hello:
During the recent Olympics I did several CN sights from a known location with the goal of determining my time by "Time sight". Using the sun as a clock. This method has been frequently mentioned and discussed.I was curious to see how exact my reset would be . Anyway, it is quite easy and excellent results were obtained. I was going to suggest a competition where anyone could submit their best results. To make the competition more interesting there would be a "degree of difficulty" component. For example, if standing on the shore or a supertanker a time penalty would be imposed/added; standing on a bouncing 26 ft sail boat,a time deduction would be credited. I never got around to writing this email, but I did make up a helpful chart for Prime Vertical Altitude of Sun. I wanted to do my "reset" calculation with my Sun sight near due east/west. attached is the chart.
Best regards
Bruce
