Restoring a Mk V aircraft sextant

I'm looking for information about restoring a WWII aircraft sextant. A navy mark V with averager.
Any info would be useful.
I’m assuming you’re talking about the US Navy MkV from Bendix Aviation Corporation, Eclipse-Pioneer Division from late WW2 and not the British Royal Aircraft Establishment MkV from 1922. If the former, there’s a small amount about it (a photo and about half a page, page 185) in Peter Ifland’s “Taking the Stars”. This sextant was also used by the USAAC/USAF as the AN5851, so you might find something about it under that title. You might try contacting Peter or “The Mariner’s Museum, Newport News, Virginia” directly. If by chance you’ve got a British RAE MkV (Mentioned in Arthur J Hughes “History of Air Navigation), I’d be very interest in obtaining photographs of it. Dave
