My Cassens & Plath sextant came with such a strap -- very similar to a wide camera strap.

Re Frank's comments concerning handling of a sextant, and making notes, writing down times and angles for the right handed v.left handed operator, one can attach a "lanyard" to the sextant, a boot lace works fine, they can be cut to desired/convenient length, which also serves to make the sextant "undroppable" after placing the lanyard over one's head. A camera carrying strap would work well too, allowing the right handed person to do their own note taking.
