Thank you Sean C,
I suspected that the SHA and Aries would be involved, and in a way I suppose that they are; thank you for thinking that through.
I am not at all fluid in these maters but now that I have this lead I may be able to reason through it more easily. Thank you again!
Steve

Subject: [NavList] Re: Retrograde motion of the planets
Steve,
I could be wrong here, but it seems to me that it can be done this way: If one subtracts the GHA of the body from the GHA of Aries, the RA of the body is obtained. If, when subtracting the RA of a particular hour from the RA of the following hour, a negative value is obtained, then the planet is in retrograde motion.
Cheers,
Sean C.
