    Here's another article:

    ...which suggests that they did drop anchor but too late. In the videos you can see the ship's stern crunch against a small yacht and then almost immediately pull off. So perhaps they were pulling on the anchor chains already at that point. This article also mentions one other key detail: this vessel has powerful bow and stern thrusters. It can maneuver without its main engines. I suspect poor planning and amateurish seamanship. And how the heck did they get their propellers fouled in a mooring line in the first place?! As I understand it, this was their own line.
