Five years ago I was cruising across Rosario Strait (San Juan Islands
WA) in 35 fathoms of water from Anacortes going towards Decatur
Head. There is about 35 fathoms of water there. Suddenly, with no
boats nearby, my 46' trawler heeled over about 40 degrees.
Everything in the cabin flew everywhere. Things settled down
quickly, and I never knew what hit us. I did not hear or feel any
contact with anything. It was very strange and of course
unsettling. No harm done, but I was lucky that I had not broken
anything when I got up off of the floor...
