    Frank, I could think of two ways. First, a massive ballast (transfer tanks) or
    other anti-roll transfer. Second...a repeat of what happened, I believe on
    another of their ships, about two years ago off Alaska. They cited a rudder
    failure that caused an extreme turn at cruising speed and there was some mention
    that it could have sunk the ship if not corrected.

    Sounds like some modern cruise ships are being built with bad engineering, if
    something allows a rudder to fail by going aggressively "hard over" at speed.

    Once the USCG announces the result of their investigation, I expect Carnival
    will make a placating statement. Perhaps inviting the next group aboard for a
    specialty "roller coaster enthusiasts at sea" cruise, and making money on this
    problem.<G>
