I  read Chichester's book about his Tasman flight fifty or more years ago after I borrowed the book from the library. I have not read the book since but it is what sparked my interest in navigation. I remember visiting  a Marine Department basement office where a mature lady with her hair in a bun sold me a copy of HD 486 (214). I also purchased my vernier sextant from an ancient mariner. Then nothing much happened until I joined this forum and began to study the subject seriously.

I think that I should find a pdf of the book (better still a paper copy) and study this forum's discussions about Chichester. I want to understand the diagrams in his book.

FWIIW I came withing a few weeks of getting a Tiger Moth type rating but unfortnately someome put it over on its tail before I could fly it solo. To quote from my very brief log book

I have just realised -   two days ago was the 50th anniversary of that flight!
