Thank you Andrés, that was quite interesting. I had not considered that there would be differing search plans, but in retrospect, it is entirely obvious.
I have gone entirely out of my way, should I ever require SAR assistance, that I make it the simplest rescue on record. Each piece of equipment is examined in detail, compared and contrasted to other equipment. I routinely test. I have a written strategy, with simple directions for each component of the strategy, on board, in the go bag. "Rescue for Dummies" is what I call it. No thinking required in extremis, just read-and-do, step by step. Distress position is one of those simple steps.
Perhaps I am overthinking it, but there is no detail too small to escape my interest. I would rather waste a fortune on equipment that is never used, than to have saved the cost and be too dead to enjoy it.
Hence my interest in the precision of distress position reporting. Perhaps you can correspond with your expert to determine the preferred reporting method (DD.ddd, DDMM.mm, etc) and the precision.
I fully recognize SAR are sharp and will, of course, be able to readily handle any method or precision. I just would like to know what is preferred. Thanks!
