    Re: SNO-M sextant manual
    From: Alexandre Eremenko
    Date: 2014 Oct 21, 14:12 +0000

Each Soviet sextant SNO (M or T) was accompanied with two documents:
    a) Manual
    b) "Formular" (sorry, I do not know how to translate this word into English).
This is an analog of Certificate but it has several pages.
The sextants had to be tested and re-certified periodically (every year),
and the results had to be recorded in this document.
The following data had to be recorded:
    1. Arc correction table
    2. All repairs
    3. Movement from one ship to another and the reason for this movement.

    I have the following:

For my SNO-T, both documents, but the "formular" is blank, it does not contain
any records, except the original certificate. (This SNO-T was never used when I bought it)

For SNO-M, I only have the "formular" (no manual) and this formular shows that the SNO-M
    was also never used.

Please tell me again which of the three documents scans are requested.

(SNO-M and SNO-T are VERY different instruments; which is not reflected in
their names; the only thing they share is
the inverting telescope). SNO-M is a clone of one C. Plath model, while SNO-T is a modified Freiberger.

SNO stands for "Sextant for Navigation with Illimination", M stands for "modified",
T stands for "tropicalized" (modified to withstand tropical conditions).

    Alex.

    Hello Rommel,
thank You for the effort and the offer. However, as much as the names are
simmilar, the sextants are different. Not that much, but enough for this
    venture.
Guess You'll be able to compare, once it's finished (it's taking me some time
to translate and "format" everything properly).
    Best regards
    Ivan

Found the SNO-T sextant manual in pdf but the only discussion of a manual for
the "M" seems to be on this list.
I will gladly supply the PDF to anyone who requests it by private email. [END QUOTE]
