    Re: SNO-T sextant Galilean telescope

I suppose that the fork of your Galilean telescope is bent. Possibly a defect of manufacturing,
if it was never used. In what year was your sextant made?
(It is written on a label plate on the back of the frame, where the pivot of the arm is located).

For my SNO-T (made in 1990, never used before I purchased it) the night scope
    seems OK, and aligned, though
I never use it, since the inverting scope is so much superior for all kind of observations I performed.

Night scope is supposed to be used only for twilight observations, to improve
    the visibility of the horizon.
In all other conditions, the inverting scope performs better, and is more
convenient, except on a small boat in rough sea,
where it is better to observe with no scope at all.

    Alex.

    Hello!
I would like to ask for some advise to those NavList members who own SNO-T
sextants. I recently purchased a SNO-T sextant (made in 1987). It was in very
good condition, not used. But when I installed Galilean telescope (the small
one) I noticed that its optical axis is out of alignment about 2,5 degrees
(optical axis is not paralel to the plane of instrument). You can see how it
looks like in attached image. The question is: is this typical for these
sextants or is it a defect of manufacturing.
There are no problems with inverting telecope, because it is adjustable.
I will be very glad to receive some coments from other SNO-T owners. Do you
have similar Galilean telescope axis inclination problem?
