I've been playing around with S-Tables in the 1992 non-gov edition
of the Nautical Almanac. I was trying to discover the base for
the logs in the tables. I think I found it.

The base, as far as I can tell is Sin(77d 23' 22"). If you look
at S(77degs 23') you see 1.001. very close to 1.0.

I am not really sure of the 22" part, but I think it's probably
right.

I have not done a real through and through evaluation of the tables,
but I can not think of why anyone would choose a base of
Sin(77d 23' 22") for the base of a trig table.

Does any one have any ideas?
