I'm Left Eye Dominant, but Right handed. When I shot rifles in competition, I shot left handed. I could not see the sights with right eye.
I use an Astra 111B, which I would take to be a "modern sextant", looking through the scope with my left eye, holding it with my right hand, I notice no particular problem. In your next to last sentence, did you perhaps mean "right handed" instead of "left handed".
