    It should be mentioned that in the Royal Navy the switch over occurred much earlier. An October 1805 Order in Council declared that henceforth all RN ships would use a standard logbook in which ran from Midnight to Midnight, instead of the previous standard log book in which the pages ran from noon to noon.
