    There is nothing on the earth that corresponds to your bathroom or
    basement. The situation is more like your bathtub when the water has
    come over the steep side walls and now it is going to flood the rim. To
    raise the level further, you still need to fill the vast  area in the
    middle, compared to which the area of the rim is negligible.
