"Tide gauge data --available online-- shows a linear increase in sea level over the past 150 years. " 150 years? Don't blink. The geological record is how many MILLION years long? Glacial cycles are measured in tens of thousands of years--and those are considered to be SHORT term climate variations. 150 years for a global event is just a bump on the graph. Those mislead people badly, i.e. like the folks claiming global warming has been brough about by the Industrial Revolution. It well may be causal--and certainly worth attention--but in the 100,000 year perspective, we've been damned lucky little apes if we have warmed the planet up, because apparently the longer record shows we "should" and would normally be firmly in the middle of another routine Ice Age! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
