I have purchased books in the past from Crawford's and they were very good. I did though make the mistake of taking them up on "give us your search list" one time. They didn't manage to come up with anything I wanted at the price I wanted so I just sat on it and did not respond. Got a sorta hot e-mail back not that polite asking what was my decision and why I hadn't respond. I replied that I did not know a response was required and apologized. I haven't done business with them since. I don't want to obligate myself just because I ask, "Do you have this or that in stock". Some used book stores I have been in come up and ask, "May I help you". If you tell them what you are looking for and they go in the back and manage to come up with it they expect you to buy it what ever they ask. That's why I just say, "Do you have any books on ships and sailing?" I have even had book sellers tell me that the price written in the book is not correct after sizing me up. Wanted to get the Morrison book on Christopher Columbus. Found it in the stacks for $6.00 when up to the front counter and the woman looked through the book and then said $25.00 take it or leave it. I left it. When to another book store across town and got it for $4.50. Have seen it since for $3.50. Mostly though about $5.00. -- Gordon "Richard B.
