Goal: to send the current position while traveling around the world via SSB radio automatically every hour to an email address. Possible solution: read location from a GPS via NMEA into a laptop, then create a short email with this information in it and send it out under computer control via a SSB marine radio into the internet. (I'm new to the SSB world so I do not know quite how this is to be done, but I am starting to research it all...) Does anyone have any experience with trying to do something like this? It is an interesting blend of old (SSB) and new (GPS/Internet) techologies... Ideas? Thoughts? Witty remarks? ;-) Captain Daniel K. Allen, Visual Sea danallen@nwlink.com Navigate | Calculate | Sail
