"..simply too many people in the group who are
emotionally attached to the webkahnua service.."
No Frank, almost nobody knows or cares about webawhatever. What we treasure is the free exchange of information and comment, mostly about nav. Continuity. That village did not need to be destroyed in order to protect it. It seems to me that it is your response that is unnecessarily emotional: flouncing off in a huff, taking your ball with you. You may remember I supported your experiment from an early stage, and still do, for whatever potential it may offer. One recent and positive manifestation of this, and a welcome one, is your alternative archive.
What this latest crisis creates is even more meta discussion that you have already quite rightly pointed out is corrosive and destructive. Stop encouraging it. Your nav list is going just fine, and is proof of an very encouraging interest in the topic, that this interest can sustain two similar lists.
Splitting of the community is minimal since we have encouraged as many as possible to join both. The community has been potentially enriched with two lists on the go.
So calm down, take a deep breath, step back, and let both lists carry on peacefully for the time being. They each have lots to offer us all. Your village doesn't need destroying either. Its OK. There is no need for more upset.
