The Pub 229 shown is vol 6 for latitude 75 to 90. What should have been shown is Pub 249 vol 2 for latitudes 0 to 40 which also contains a sun long term almanac . I estimate the afternoon 01:30:00 UTC sun observation at about Hs 19 degrees on an azimuth of about 250 degrees which would provide a good LOP to cross with an LAN observation as well as a compass check. Tami used her digital watch which she found in the bilge still working a few weeks after the capsize.
