There is a utensil that was designed to help people with conditions such as Parkinson's disease to feed themselves. (See here.) I wonder if this sort of technology could be applied somehow to sextants in order to steady the view through a high power telescope.
Also, I recently read an article by an amateur astronomer which stated that, using a telescope and camera, the individual was able to image stars through what appeared to be solid cloud cover. (See here.) I'm not sure what part of the technology enabled this to happen (IR or UV sensors?), but I wonder if this could also somehow be adapted to work with a sextant.
Just some thoughts.
Cheers!
