Black gloss enamel will work fine, the ounce
bottle sold in hobby shops in the US under the "Testors" name usually. I think
they're water-based these days.
"at's the chemical difference " You'd have to
read the label to see what's in each. Paint thinner can be almost anything these
days, as can paint remover, etc. Turpentine is more expensive than "mineral
spirits" but works better too.<G> None of that is "stripper" and for
strippers you are paying for "I know/think this one works" and partly for the
higher end solvents it contains.
