Please excuse my insistence, but...what is the
'right' paint to use for the purpose of reblacking ?
I don't want to make a mess of this. After all my
purpose is to make it look better :-)
By the way, just left Home Depot [lookin' at paint
remover] and noticed that the ratio of prices for:
lacquer thinner, mineral
spirits, and paint thinner
was:
3 : 2 :
1
What's the chemical difference ?
Thanks,
Courtney

The paint remains in the engraved areas. Jewelers do this to "reblack" the numbers in watch bezels. Bowling ball and trophy shops do it to black in the engravings in bowling balls (usually a name) and trophy plaques. It takes some practice and works best with the "right" paints but there's nothing exotic about it.
