Fantastique Andres!
I wondered when this sort of thing would be developed. Anyone know when it is likely to be available on the market? Probably at a premium price intially?
Also have wondered if something maybe a bit simpler could be done with smart phone and appropriate app?
Iv'e recently been experimenting with my increased accuracy nocturnal (well really a polarum as described by Tony Crowley.)
I can get latitude from the angle between polaris and alkaid or e Cassiopiae, + a sextant polaris alt. And then , looking again at polaris , can get longitude from the angle between Kochab and polaris..(need GMT and LHA aries for that.)
So question for the app experts. Could you use a smart phone to take a picture of polaris and the circumpolar stars, including kochab, alkaid and e cas, Knowing time and polaris alt from either a seperate sextant reading or maybe even the inclinometer on the phone and software to give approx lat and long?
Just a thought and maybe a challenge to app developers in Navlist?
What a wonderful world we live in! Wish i was 25 again!
