Living in Woodstock, NY (yes, that one) in the foothills of the Catskill mountains, I don't often have the pleasure of a natural sea horizon. So it was a treat to shoot sunlines from Chatham Beach light house parking lot on a lovely, warm, sunny day.
But I was becoming a circus show with constant interruptions - all nice folks, just curious and full of quesitons. Whale watching and looking at women on the beach were common themes. Had someone hung around that looked half-wy industrious, I would have put them to work writing times and sextant angles but no one remained more than a minute or so. A local police car paused but concluded I was harmless.
It was just too distracting. On one hand, I wanted to be polite and accomodate people who came up to me, but on the other hand, you need to focus and concentrate.
