It was just too distracting. On one hand, I wanted to be polite and accom
modate people who came up to me, but on the other hand, you need to focus and concentrate.
On the plus side, that is something I always enjoyed about Americans - at least other people on the beach acknowledged your existence. Here in the UK, you would be studiously ignored and people would be sure to keep their distance lest they be associated with somebody who was obviously not quite..... normal.
