Michael, Indeed, most of the entries in my list are XIX century manufacturers. Unfortunately I know little of them. The main source of my information is the pictures of sextants on e-bay and in the books, and the maker's name is taken from the inscription on the arc. In certain case I can provide a date when some sextant was made (or certified) by a particular maker, but I don't see how to find any more details about history of particular manufacturers (except some few very famous ones). The only British companies I know of XX century are Heath, Hughes and T. Cook. Did any of the rest of British manufacturers in my list operate in XX century? Alex.
