When I was a kid I sometimes used to practice from the beach or from the family boat at anchor, and often had a shore horizon.
Inman's Tables had a table for dip for a shore horizon based on height of the observer and distance from the shore horizon. The Admiralty Manual of Navigation addressed it too. With known distances (which I had for my practice locations) I used a table provided to me by an early mentor which I belive was taken from an old edition of Inman's Tables.
