    Hi Lawrie,

    yes, my  horizon shades are as you described - two in number, one yellowy the other blue/grey. so it seems i probably have the original. i must say the sextant is from 1976 and has been sitting in its original box for 40 years until my godfather passed it on to me. it does seem in remarkably good condition. i am trying to "learn the ropes" and i think its good to go. the only issue is when using both horizon mirrors and i look at the sun (zero on the arc), i get two images of the sun.
