Philip, I had very similar problems with some Soviet equipment bought on the e-bay. I also started with combing the local watchmakers wares but to no avail. Finally I found what I needed on the web by typing "Metric screws" on the Google. There is a big shop selling them by mail on the Internet, and as I remember they had all existing shapes. (I can look in my records and try to find precisely the address I used, but this may take some time). The system of standards used in Germany (and in most of Europe) is called DIN, this can be helpful in your search. Alex.
