Byron; GARY, Yes I know that it was not your writing. I would eliminate Loran C also as a good base for distance measument. I wrote a sea story, about my submarine heading towards the Heavies? near Scotland, getting two three point fixs that did not agree (FAR OFF) with my DR. then getting a radar return agreeing with the DR.(1960,s Navsat on the Intrepid was great (When above the horizon) but accuracy to the decimal was not always the case. Decca, yes I could compare with visual bearings.
Omega using available stations in early 197? 3.5NM in much of the Atlantic, near 20 NM in the Baltic and the MED. In am sure later more stations did better accuracy
