    Re: Sextants with Polarizing filters

    Hi Peter,

C&P also offer a sextant called a Polaris which in their words is specially optimised for star sights. It uses the same frame as the Horizon Ultra. I simply asked them to put a Polaris horizon glass on a Horizon Ultra because I find it easiest to work with - nice bright horizon through the un-mirrored sides yet very good reflectance off the centre strip. They charged a few Euro for the trouble.

    Regards
    Mike

Apparently this sextant normally comes with a whole horizon mirror, to enable use of the double prism lens. Could you elaborate a little more on your mirror ? eg; is it an optional extra from C&P, if not where did it come from?

    thanks in advance
